As the entire Seattle area grapples with the COVID-19 outbreak, I’ve wanted to find a way to support the larger community while remaining of service to my current clients. I keep coming back to focusing on what we are grateful for and how best to build connections during a time when social distance is the buzzword of the day.
Like many other providers, I believe my skills can be shared remotely to benefit families adapting to temporary life away from school and work.
For the last 10 years, I’ve helped neurodivergent and neurotypical children, teens and adults learn how the Ipad and affiliated apps can support their leisure, learning and communication. I have developed incredible methods to teach individuals and families to use their iPad as a tool and a toy — and how to balance those two objectives. More recently, I’ve focused my work on somatic behavioral coaching: using a variety of methods to guide my clients toward achieving their goals in numerous areas involving work, home, school and recreation.
In many ways, this new venture in virtual support and coaching takes me back to the roots of my career and why I do this work — watching clients and their families grow and learn together to achieve goals and independence.
