Prediction and Expectation

Home » General » Prediction and Expectation

In my sessions lately, I’ve noticed these two words popping up a lot: “prediction” and “expectation.” It started when we introduced a matching game, and it’s been a real eye-opener.

One of my clients wants it to be easy. He’s all about having the same number of items, same categories, and the cards with matching numbers. For him, it’s like a recipe for an effortless experience. But here’s the catch – what if I throw a little curveball and change something? Suddenly, his prediction and expectation go out the window, and he has to notice and reassure himself. It’s in these moments when he has to dig deep and find his inner resolve to adapt and keep enjoying the game. He has to work harder to show up to the joy of game playing.

My client’s journey reminds us that even when things don’t go according to plan, it’s not a sign to quit. It’s an invitation to embrace the unpredictable and let it shape us into better versions of ourselves. So, the next time life throws you a curveball, don’t panic – it’s just another opportunity to level up in the game of life!
